The plot does require some suspension of disbelief, however, horror, thriller and speculative science-fiction fans could equally enjoy this dark and chilling tale. The ominous vibes and mysterious elements really gripped my attention, but the story’s execution and pacing could have been handled a little better. Part gothic horror and part speculative thriller Just Like Home is a multi-genre mashup that puts a unique spin on the typical haunted house tropes. When mysterious notes from her deceased, serial killer father begin to appear, Vera starts to wonder what other secrets might be lurking within the legendary Crowder House. To make matters worse, her childhood home has become an exploited attraction, made evident by the eccentric artist who now lives in the guest house. When her estranged mother calls years later suddenly asking Vera to come back home – it was the last thing Vera wanted to.
